“MCI Permitted seat in PG Degree / Diploma medical course means ?”
MCI Permitted seat in PG Degree / PG Diploma Medical Course means Medical Council of India gives permission to the universities / colleges, that are equipped with the necessary infrastructure of facilities and faculties. So that the eligible MBBS graduates with their choice of specialization are admitted into the university / colleges to pursue his / her PG Degree / PG Diploma Medical Course.
Now the question is, “Should a MBBS graduate join a MCI Permitted Seat to pursue PG Degree / PG Diploma Medical Course of his / her specialization?” The answer is “Yes with a But.”
Let us elaborate “Yes with a But” – “Yes” he / she can join, because this is an approved MCI Permitted Seat and the Medical Council of India has given permission to the university / college to admit a MBBS graduate.
“But” when the graduate completes the duration of 3 years in MCI Permitted Seat and is awarded the PG Degree / PG Diploma Medical in his / her specialization –
“He or she can practice only in the state where they have completed the PG Degree / PG Diploma Medical Course and cannot practice in any other state in India, until and unless the MCI Permitted Seat becomes a recognized seat.”
In Practice at the end of 3 years after Medical Council of India gives permission to the university / college to admit MBBS graduate, the seat becomes recognized, but suppose Medical Council of India is not satisfied with the facilities of the particular specialization & finds the infrastructure not at par with the standards or norms stipulated, then the University / college is in obligation to improve its facilities and again offer for inspection to the Medical Council of India.
Once again an inspection is conducted by Medical Council of India to check if the college / university has improved the facilities & faculty as stipulated. Now if the Medical Council of India is satisfied then recognized status would be given to the MCI Permitted Seat of that particular University / college.[ad 2]
Hoping this gives a fair idea to the aspirants (MBBS graduates) wishing to go for higher studies in their area of specialization. While joining any university or college, please understand of what happens when you join a MCI Permitted Seat. To know more contact Medical Council of India, New Delhi.
ATBanzara Education recommends the MBBS graduates to take admission in a recognized seat instead of MCI Permitted Seat. Very rarely a MCI Permitted Seat is not given a recognized status by Medical Council of India.
