The medical college is named after Sri Mohan Kumaramangalam, a great statesman and former Minister of Steel & Mines of India (1971-73).
MBBS, MD & MS Courses – The UG course is MBBS. The PG courses are in MD and MS. The Courses are recognized by Medical Council of India.
Origin of College Hospital – It started as a dispensary in 1858. Converted to hospital in 1871. Later again in the year 1884 the hospital was modified to Municipal Hospital. The year 1920 saw the Municipal Hospital becoming a 80-beds Government Hospital.
The government hospital remained a District Head Quarters Hospital till the year 1990. Finally became an attached teaching medical college hospital to the Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College.
