Will the Sikh minority institute run by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) get permission to convert the 75 government quota seats into management quota?
This topic is doing the rounds of the minds of several students and parents; who are looking forward to take admission in Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College (SGRDC), Amritsar.
With counseling to begin from July 17, 2017; this prevailing confusion of whether government will allow the management of the Sikh minority medical college in Amritsar; to convert the all 75 government quota MBBS seats into management quota.

Though SGRDC want to convert the MBBS seats into management quota, as it announced on July 1, 2017 ; and also increase the fees from Rs 40L to Rs 62L. However, the fees should be as per the Punjab Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions Act, 2006.
Also; Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences says, the SGRDC cannot do conversion without approval from ministry.
Many students are apprehensive; whether to take MBBS admission for the government quota seat in Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College (SGRDC), Amritsar. The worry of students that if the conversion takes place the fees may become higher; and it would be not affordable for them.
